psycho
this film is a remake of one of the classic thriller/ slasher’s of the 1960's orriginal. trying to keep all of the cammra angles and script as simmiler as posible this is done resonably well however the more modurn one is set at a faster pase.
although the two films pase’s are diffrent at the killing part the two films begin to become on the same time scale this is because the eairlier film has a faster build up toward the killing in the more modern film the showering is extgended before the killing, this i believe was done to addd to the tention building in an attempt to make it more thrilling and scary.
the killing its self uses many diffrent shots and cammra angles some of which are alternative with rappid black clean cuts this adds to the whole experience of the killing as you are able to empathise with the victim because you gett to see what she sees. this combined with the slight angling of the cammra to give the impression of week febal victim and strong overbearing killer.
notice on the victims picture the killers shodow towers over the victim.

in both films the camera is used to its fullest pottential being used in many diffrewnt and raerly used cammera shots like the extreem close -up of the shower head and the sweep to another time and place which is then used very effectivly towards the end of the shower killing scene and is the only film to use it that i have seen. this combined with the increase in shots as the killing takes place all add to the dramatic tention and slasher feel of this ichonic film.
the director chose the bathroom a normally private place to clean yourself up, a bright white stage for the killer simmiler to that of a slaughter-house, clean, crisp and some-how vissious or at least looks like one after the vissious attack.
mise en scène as we all know this is everything on set and on tjis set it consists of a very city type hotel in the middle of nowhere because of this apprent isolation the irational fear of being watched begins to arrise not at all for the charectors as the female is so at home she dosent feel the need to lock the door to the bathroom but for the audience. once in the main killing area you notice the dramatic change from quite dark to very bright and white this in its self is unusall for a killing scene although as stated above there is a remarkable resemblance to a slaughter house. this set should have been very hard to film as it has many cammra shot and angle not possible with a real set so this is almost defently a set made up of removable pannels and shot not in sequence but for ease then the set would change and the shots needed at that angle would be filmed.
some of the cammra shot are very dificult to get for example thew shower head shot where the water passees the cammra without actually touching the cammra and ruining the effect also merging of the shots comes into perticular inportance as the shot now need to give far more effect on the audience using only straight cuts in the killing scene with decreasing time inbetween causing a faster pase and more fear factor.
there are only four diffrent type of shots i can see in this film are straight cuts one paning scene change a zoom in and a few standered pans
nowadays this list is very small, however because of this the film gains an extra ‘’Je ne sais pas que’‘ which give it the edge on films of its time. each shot is carefully corryograft to give maximum affect and run smoothly through each shot for instance in this shot the line goes almost perfectly through the knife and the killer.
